LUMBARDA

Lumbarda is situated on the far eastern tip of the island of Korcula. A Stretching picturesque village by the sea, surrounded by gentle hills stocked with vineyards. It is from these vineyards you get a quality wine Grk with the controlled denomination of origin. Besides wine, Lumbarada is known for Lumbardian PSEFIZAM, the oldest written document in Croatia from the 4th century BC. Psefizma is the decision to regulate property relations between the Greek settlers and then Illyrian population. In the 1stcentury the area Lumbarda was inhabited by the Romans, the existence of population at the time of the early Christianity the church of St. Barbara on the island Sutvara, dated to the 6th century. The absence of life during early medieval times show evidence that in Lumbarda for unknown reasons disappear. It was not until the early 15th century when the Korcula bishop and nobility slowly started building of season buildings, as the last 150 years Lumbarda formed we know today.

Lumbarda is 6km from the town of Korcula. It faces the Peljesac peninsula, and in front of it is situated some 20 islets. One of the most famous island Vrnik, and is known for its extremely high quality white stone. People of Lumbarda are excellent hosts, excellent artists, famous sculptors and lovers of their own traditions, which they present to tourists during the summer months and are held throughout the year. In Lumbarda have about 1200 people. Lumbarda has prepared several kilometers of trails for hikers.

A few kilometres from Lumbarda there are two beautiful beaches. One beach Przina and the largest sandy beach on the island, and the other is Bilin Zal, small sandy beach facing the Peljesac peninsula.
